Tosca is a tragic opera in three acts, whose music is by the Italian composer Giacomo Puccini , with a libretto by Guisseppe Giacosa and Luigi Illica.  The scene is Rome in 1800, with control of Rome being threatened by Napoleon's French army.  Puccini created Tosca in the verismo opera style, showing a strong sense of realism.  Tosca is one of the most popular operas in the world and includes some of Puccini's most famous arias.  This production will be spoken and sung in English, and fully staged with an orchestra, sets, and costumes.

The Hudson Lyric Opera, now in its eleventh season, is comprised of many talented artists who live or work in the lower Hudson Valley.

Hudson Lyric Opera's Performances Dedicated to Helen Seiden

Helen Seiden, mezzo soprano from Detroit, New York City, and Florida, was an inspiration to our family. The godparent of our artistic director Rosalinda Perez, she was a performer in both concerts and performances of  opera with Rosalinda and her parents. A true Fan of the Opera, Helen was a mentor and friend.

The performances of Tosca in October and November are dedicated to the memory of Helen Seiden. She died recently at the age of 98, but her legacy lives on. If you would like to honor Helen's memory, her family encourages you to consider contributing to the Hudson Lyric Opera.  All contributions are tax-deductible.

Please make checks payable to: Hudson Lyric Opera and send to: 53 Morton St., Garnerville NY 10923.   Thank you for your support! - Rosalinda Perez, Artistic Director.
